| ABOUT THE FACE PAINTER (and her goofy Jester) I (Tricia) started face painting for children's birthday parties in 2001 after 9/11. The first face I painted was my husband's, because he's a goofy character and a good sport. Our neighbor encouraged my husband Mike to become a clown, because Mike wanted to make people smile more. The neighbor also encouraged me to start face painting. Most kids (and adults, including me!) don't really like clowns. So I created a simple Court Jester character for my husband, and named him Jingles The Jester. Jingles' non-scary clown character was a big hit for kids and parents. Jingles and Tricia became very popular in our small town at that time. (We have since moved, but go back to visit and kids remember us!) Jingles learned a few basic balloon hats, balloon swords and a few animals. I learned some wonderful face painting techniques from the pros, especially the Queen of Face Painting, Mama Clown/Marcela Murad. I have all her books and face painting videos, and buy my professional face painting supplies from Mama Clown's Silly Farm Supplies. We did a few clown conventions and Face Painting Conventions where we learned even more, and before we knew it, we were doing School Carnivals and kids Birthday Parties nearly every weekend. Since we both had full-time jobs as well, we eventually had to give up the parties and retire the fun team of 'Jingles and Tricia'. Then we moved, bought a toystore for a few years, closed that business, and now I am face painting again. My favorite faces to paint are kids ages 3 to 6 years, because they love everything I paint! Older kids tend to have more sophisticated ideas of what they want. I am not really a true Artist, so I do Not do unicorns, cheek art, etc. My most requested face painting designs are tigers, cats, spiderman masks, butterfly masks, princess faces and flower petals. *** FOR $30 EXTRA: Jingles the Jester is now my part-time Assistant/SideKick. For $30 more, he will interact with the kids and other guests, be silly, mingle and bring friendly, playful energy to the party or event. Jingles has retired from twisting Balloons, and now only does playful meet and greet mingling in costume character. "Meet and Greet with Jingles the Jester" (without face painter): $95/hr. |
